It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a squad that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her newest gem.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not come up short.

Whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm at all," stated Healy.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was dismissed Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.
